To the Marines of 3rd Bn 3rd Marines RVN,
I am writing to let you know my “Gentle Giant”, aka William Edward “Bill” Morton passed away 05 May 2004 and was laid to rest 10 May 2004 at Houston National Cemetery.
“MY” Hero was given the burial he deserved, with all the dignity and respect only you guys who have laid your life on the line and fought for your country could know about.
Through his 57 years living in this world he was not always afforded this respect and dignity, and I’m sure many know of what I am talking about.
Bill was admitted to the VA Hospital in October 2003 and, with the exception of last Thanksgiving Day, never again was able to come home.
I was never, once, told how critical he was, and still resent not being included/consulted or anything on his condition. I pray that this does not happen to anyone else.
You guys take care. You are all in my Prayers. Bill was proud having fought for his country, but even prouder still of being a “MARINE”.
God Bless
Eva L. Morton

a passing, if not listed currently in our rosters as deceased.
We now have accounted for over 600 of our alumni who have died since Nam. I'm positive that we have not accounted for all to date.
