a very humane and caring man, high standards that you would never lower, courage that was unshaking, calmest under any war conditions, friend to all and all were your friends. We endured the awful struggles and many came back better men. Some lost themselves afterwards.
My friendship for you will never falter and I love you like one of my very own brothers (family) and well as Marine/Corpsman (brothers). I have spoken so many times, and about your heroics over 24 years I spent in the Corps that you just would not believe. Many, many Marines have heard about Doc Dominguez from Albq., NM. I wrote a citation recommendation for a Bronze Star for you. I sure hope you got it.
I'm glad Theresa found me about a month ago via letter mail, and I'm glad I found YOU as a result. You have a special place in my heart and with my family. My very best regards and please respond when you get a chance.

Can you please get this to Doc Hoppy and to others in 3/3. Thanks.
I was in Washington, DC Friday for a Marine Corps Birthday luncheon, and they had several young (including a 1stSgt.) Marines there from Bethesda and Walter Reed. Among them was Cpl. James Wright, who was at our Reunion in July.

Hello "Doc"
This is Corporal then later Sergeant Clifford "Mac" McCants formerly of "I"3/3 of VietNam (04/1967 thru 05/68) . If you remember Nov 1st 1967, I know you'll remember me. You are held in my highest regard in every respect...A Corpsman, (almost a Marine...now chuckle here if you wish)
His girl friend (perhaps fiancée) was with him. He had a temporary prosthesis on one arm, and could use it to drink from a glass. I spoke to him and told him how much his presence and remarks at the Reunion had impressed us. He seemed genuinely pleased that someone remembered him from that event and that what he said was remembered. He is just a very fine young man.
The other young Marines there, none nearly so seriously wounded, were so much like the 19-20 year old Marines in my 3rd Platoon in 1965-66 that it was almost eerie. I could go back to Hill 55 and all the patrol checkpoints and these young studs were there. Marines are Marines are Marines. Seeing them reinforced for me the good idea that Otto Lehrack and Bruce Devert have to provide support to the current day 1/3/3 Marines. Let's get behind that.
The Marine captain at the luncheon from the liaison unit at Bethesda (they cover Walter Reed also, where Cpl. Wright is) said that Cpl. Wright has achieved some status in Washington. DepSecDef Wolfowitz has taken a personal interest in him and is trying to get him to stay in DC and do some work there. I got the idea that Texas is in his future, however.
Cpl. Wright was particularly insistent that that I get word to Doc Hoppy and tell him how much he (Cpl. Wright) appreciated what Doc did for him around the Reunion.
I don't have Doc Hoppy’s email at hand, and hope that these words find their way to him.
Take care,
Perry Miles
